Jane Hedengren, a junior at Timpview High, captured back-to-back Class 5A girls state titles by covering the 5-kilometer layout in 17:14.7 at the Utah High School Activities Association Cross Country Championships at the Regional Athletic Complex in Salt Lake City. Hedengren, who achieved the fastest female performance of the entire meet, led five Timpview athletes placing in the top 25, as the Thunderbirds secured their first girls team crown since 1996 with a 62-103 triumph against Maple Mountain, with five-time champion Springville taking third at 118 points.
